Heritage School Celebrates XIX Annual Day – ‘THE INNER RAINBOW’ by students of Classes I-II

The Primary Wing of Heritage School took the audience on a rhythmic journey to activate ‘THE INNER RAINBOW’ at its XIX Annual Day by students of Classes I and II, on Monday, October 30, 2023 at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. With the theme of ‘Nutzilla: The Acorn’ as basic framework, the captivating cultural items were aimed to entertain and educate young students about the significance and value associated with each colour of the rainbow, encouraging them to embrace these qualities in their daily lives.
Ms. Indu Kanwal Chib, JKAS, Mission Director - Rural Livelihood Mission, UT of J&K, Jammu, lent her esteemed presence as the Chief Guest, adding a distinguished aura to the event.

The event began with presentation of a sapling waiting to bloom to the Chief Guest, marking its start followed by the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. Maira Wani, a student of Class II, delivered an adorable welcome note, reflecting the innocence and charm of young students.

Mrs. Vandana Jasrotia, the Headmistress, extended a warm welcome to the august gathering. In her address she underlined the child centred philosophy of the school where every child has the right to enjoy his/her place in the sun, in this case- the stage.

The Primary school choir- Minstrels of Melody, demonstrated their boundless enthusiasm as they began with the high octane strains of ‘Aarambh hai, prachand…’ culminating with the crescendo of Jai Ho.
What made this event truly mesmerizing was the cultural performances by the children of Classes I and II. Donned in vibrant costumes, these young talents burst on the stage in a riot of colours delivering lively musical performances interspersed with captivating stories, weaving together an enchanting narrative that transported the audience into a world filled with talking animals, Nutzilla-the acorn and the wisdom of Guru. The students brilliantly showcased the seven colours of the rainbow on the stage, making the theme come alive.
The significance of cultural pursuits cannot be undermined in the learning process of a child. These are as important for holistic growth as academic achievements. Best All Rounder trophy is awarded to students every session for excelling in both academic as well as cultural activities. At the prize-giving ceremony, the Chief Guest awarded ‘All-Rounder’ trophies for the session 2022-23 to the following students: Gurvansh Singh (IB), Myra Wani (ID), Banat Kour (IIB) and Aaditri Gupta (IIC). Gurfateh Singh, of class IF, received recognition for his outstanding sports achievement in Chess. He has the distinction of representing the UT of J&K in U-7 and U-9 categories, four times during 2022-23 and has twice been the champion in Jammu District tournaments. Classes IB, IC and IIF were declared Best Classes of the year 2023, for their excellence in co-curricular activities.

The Chairman of the School, Mr. Sunil Gupta , presented memento as token of gratitude to the Chief Guest, leaving her with treasured memories of this special day.
In her address, the Honorable Chief Guest commended the spectacular event congratulating everyone for their hard work and said that the programme served as a reminder of the incredible things that can be achieved through education and nurturing young talents. She emphasised the role of joint parenting instead of leaving it to the mothers alone. It is important to invest in the child’s growth rather than interfere. She rightfully pointed out that the destiny of a nation takes shape not only in a class room but in home as well. She urged the audience to remember that perfection is elusive but there are countless ways to be good.

In her vote of thanks , Ms Hemneet Kaur, Incharge Annual Day functions, expressed heart warming gratitude to the dignitaries, the school Management, the Principal, her colleagues, parents and the children for their support and combined effort & dedication in bringing an abstract idea of the inner rainbow to life.
In the concluding moments of the event, the National Anthem was played, reinforcing a strong sense of togetherness and pride among the audience.
Heritage School extends its sincere gratitude to the parents, students, and all those who graced the occasion, rendering the XIX Annual Day truly exceptional.
